The Israeli army on Tuesday delivered stop-work notices against six homes and structures in Deir Istiya town, north of Salfit province in the West Bank.

Head of the town’s municipal authority Sa’ied Zaidan said that officials from the Israeli army’s civil administration escorted by soldiers came in their vehicles to Wadi Ashami area in the town and put up notices on new homes and structures ordering owners to halt construction works.

Zaidan added that the Israeli military authorities claimed that the construction of these homes and structures had been made in the Israeli-controlled Area C of the West Bank.

The Israeli military and municipal authorities carried out a large-scale demolition campaign against Palestinian homes and structures last year in Area C and simultaneously intensified the building of housing units for settlers on annexed Palestinian lands.
