Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces in the West Bank announced the arrest of five residents. Dozens of others are still languishing in the PA’s jails for political backgrounds and without any legal justification.
Among the captives are a university student of Palestine Polytechnic University in al-Khalil, engineer from the city and a youth from Saeer town in the same governorate. A young man from Bettein town near Ramallah as well as another man from Tulkarem city were among the political detainees as well.
In Bethlehem, the political prisoner Numan Jubran declared starting an open hunger strike in protest at being detained in the isolation cells of the PA preventive security forces based on no charges.
The PA forces also transferred detainee Hani al-Urouj from its jails in Bethlehem to Jericho central prison.
