The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) quelled on Friday Kafr Qaddoum anti-settlement weekly march which demands opening the village’s road that has been closed for more than 14 years.
A number of foreign peace activists took part in the march alongside hundreds of Kafr Qaddoum residents. The IOF soldiers attacked the marchers with rubber-coated metal bullets, tear gas canisters, and sound bombs, but no injuries were reported.
Coordinator of the popular resistance in Kafr Qaddoum, Murad Shtewi, said that the IOF soldiers broke into a public park east of the village and turned it into a military barracks.
Shtewi reported that violent confrontations flared up between the Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youths who threw stones and burned tires near Kedumim settlement built on the village’s lands.
He affirmed that targeting children with arrests will not deter the village’s residents of various age categories from participating in the march every week until they achieve their goals.
