UN coordinator, Japanese ambassador pop in blockaded Gaza

UN and Japan in Gaza

The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay Mladenov, and the Japanese ambassador for Palestinian Affairs, Takeshi Okubo, arrived in Gaza via Beit Hanun (Erez) border crossing at noontime Monday.

A PIC news correspondent said Mladenov and Okuba reached Gaza in separate trips.

The Japanese envoy will keep tabs on his country’s projects in Gaza.

Mladenov, who popped in the strip with a number of delegates, is expected to receive a reply by Hamas over an imitative to work out the power crisis.

Last week, Mladenov met with Hamas political bureau chairman Ismail Haneyya over the power crisis and the reluctance of the Palestinian Authority, chaired by Mahmoud Abbas, to transfer Gazan patients to hospitals outside of Gaza.
