A Palestinian police officer died on Sunday while he was in detention in a prison in Egypt for unknown reasons, his brother told the Quds Press news agency.
Khalil Dughmosh said that his 30-year-old brother Waseem Mustafa Dughmosh died on Sunday in one of Egypt’s prisons, adding that he does not know any details about the circumstances of his brother’s arrest and death.
The Palestinian embassy in Cairo has informed his family about the news of Khalil’s death, without giving further details about the incident, Waseem Dughmosh pointed out.
He explained that his brother, a Palestinian police officer affiliated to the Palestinian Authority’s Ramallah-based government, has been living in Cairo for 10 years, and he was arrested three days ago for unknown reasons, according to Quds Press.
The family are currently awaiting the arrival of Khalil’s body in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing for burial.
