PPS: The current week saw 69 arrests of Palestinians in W.B and J’lem
The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said that the detention of Palestinian citizens, including children, by the Israeli military and security authorities occurred 69 times in the West Bank and Jerusalem during the current week.
According to a report released on Thursday, most of these arrests happened in al-Khalil, Jerusalem, Jenin and Bethlehem.
During this week, Israeli courts issued harsh prison verdicts against several detainees, including Mohamed Shahin from Qalandiya refugee camp in Jerusalem and Tasneem al-Halabi, a 15-year-old girl from Ramon town in Ramallah.
Shahin was given two life sentences and ordered to pay three and a half million shekels in compensation, while the girl was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.
12 detainees also received administrative detention orders for the first time and 22 others, who are already administrative detainees, obtained extensions during the same period.
