Palestinian lawmaker Mona Mansour has condemned the Palestinian Authority (PA) for persisting in carrying out political arrests in the West Bank, calling for necessarily releasing all political detainees in its jails.
In press remarks to Quds Press on Saturday, MP Mansour stressed the need to honor the signed reconciliation agreements and put a real end to the arrest of citizens because of their political affiliation.
“The general situation in the West Bank has not changed and every time there is a talk about the reconciliation and efforts to end the internal division, arbitrary arrest campaigns are carried out against citizens,” the lawmaker said.
She said that the PA political arrest policy did a disservice to the Palestinian people who suffer from occupation and contributed to the disintegration of their social fabric.
Mansour pointed out that her son has been detained by the PA preventive security for about 11 days in al-Junaid prison, without being able to see his family.
